Early Suppers provide Diamond Members of The Link for Women the opportunity to get to know other powerful women in an intimate and compelling environment, introducing a thought-leader to the group to stimulate conversation.

For our August gathering, we are delighted to have two leaders from New Avenues for Youth:  Sean Suib, Executive Director and Vanessa Sturgeon, Board Chair, as our thought leaders. 

We will have an educational conversation with Sean and Vanessa about New Avenues approach to addressing youth homelessness and its root causes.

Sean Suib
Executive Director, New Avenues for Youth
Sean is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been working with homeless, foster, and at-risk youth in Portland since 1992. He joined New Avenues for Youth as a program manager shortly before New Avenues opened its doors in 1997. In the past twenty years, Sean has had a hand in developing and implementing all of New Avenues programs and has played a leadership role in creating a County wide safety net system for at-risk youth. As New Avenue’s Executive Director, Sean has focused the organization around increasing early intervention and prevention programs, developing innovative housing solutions, and growing New Avenue’s portfolio of job training/social enterprise businesses.
 
About Vanessa Sturgeon
Board Chair for New Avenues for Youth
Vanessa Sturgeon is President & CEO of TMT Development in Portland, Oregon and has spent the last fourteen years developing and managing mixed-use high-rise assets, retail shopping centers, and industrial parks in Oregon and Washington. 
 
As an active member of her community, her civic involvement includes serving as Board Chair for New Avenues for Youth, Treasurer for Portland Business Alliance, and sitting on the boards of Downtown Clean & Safe District, The Knight Cancer Council, and Greater Portland Inc. Vanessa formally chaired the Central City Standing Committee of the Portland Business Alliance where she served as the Vice Chair of Downtown Services, has served on the board of NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and NAIOP Public Affairs Committee, the Portland Chief of Police Foundation, and on the Board of the Pioneer Courthouse Square from 2007 to 2011 as well as the Salvation Army Board of Directors from 2004-2007.
