About

Rebuilding Together is a nation-wide nonprofit organization that provides critical home repairs, modifications, and improvements for low-income homeowners. We have a focus on assisting the elderly, people with disabilities, families with children, and veterans at no cost to those served. Our work includes carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, flooring, home safety modifications (such as ADA and handrails or wheelchair ramps), debris removal, and more.  Our goal is to help low-income Portland homeowners remain in a safe, secure, and independent environment for years to come.

To be eligible for consideration for our National Rebuild Day or the Safe & Healthy Repair Program, the applicant must:

  • Be the owner and occupant of the property
  • Be low-income
  • Be unable to either financially and/or physically complete repairs themselves
  • Live in the City of Portland

Rebuilding Together Portland selects up to 50 homes to repair on our National Rebuild Day, which typically falls on the last Saturday in April every year. On this single day, over 1,500 volunteers from all walks of life to unite to complete roughly $1,250,000 worth of improvements to the community. These efforts are made possible with our Board of Directors, financial and material contributions, and the efforts of over 1,700 volunteers yearly. v
